An event equipment supplier in South Korea ordered 32 lightweight 240 W flexible solar modules for a temporary concert canopy against a fixed deadline. The shipment was delivered one day ahead of the requested arrival date, and the customer confirmed a successful installation two weeks later.

Project Background

An independent event equipment supplier needed a lightweight generating surface for a temporary canopy structure. Rigid glass modules were not a practical option here: the frame was a demountable aluminium truss that had to be transported, assembled on grass and taken down again after the event. The supplier selected LIONSHEE 240 W flexible modules, which weigh 3.70 kg each and can be fixed directly to the frame members.

The first enquiry arrived on 17 June 2026 for 20 two-module packs. The order was finalised on 4 August 2026 at 16 packs, or 32 modules in total. At 240 W per module that is 7.68 kWp of nominal module capacity across roughly 40 m² of module area. According to the customer, the finished canopy was used at a BIGBANG concert.

The purchaser was an independent event equipment supplier. This case does not represent an order from BIGBANG, its members or an official representative, and no endorsement, sponsorship or formal partnership is implied.

1. A Deadline That Set the Whole Project

On 31 July the customer asked for a shipping date and made the constraint explicit: “No time to lose really”, “8/12 should be arrival date”, “To our office”. Everything downstream — frame fabrication, module mounting, cable routing and transport to the venue — depended on that date holding.

The relationship had started six weeks earlier with a straightforward product enquiry. The quantity discussed at that stage was 20 packs; the final order was refined to 16 packs before it was placed.

The first enquiry, 17 June 2026, asked about 20 packs. The quantity was revised to 16 packs before the order was confirmed.

2. Order Confirmation and Reinforced Packing

The order was placed on 4 August 2026: 16 packs of two 240 W monocrystalline modules, shipped from China. Each two-module pack measures 1160 × 1100 × 38 mm at 10.25 kg gross, so the consignment moved as 16 flat, slim cartons rather than as a pallet of rigid framed panels.

Because the route was time-sensitive and the cargo was thin laminate, wooden framing was added around the cartons before hand-off to the forwarder. On a deadline-driven event order the risk that matters is not freight cost, it is a damaged panel discovered on the morning of assembly.

3. Delivered One Day Ahead of the Requested Date

The customer asked for arrival on 12 August. The carrier record shows the consignment in preparation at Incheon on 10 August and delivery completed at 09:55:03 local time on 11 August — one full day ahead of the requested date.

On 12 August the customer confirmed receipt the previous day and sent a photograph of the frame being prepared.

“We got it yesterday luckily. If [it was] a few days delayed, it could be blocked by typhoon.”

The customer’s message on 12 August. The day gained was not spare time in the schedule — it was the margin that kept the shipment ahead of weather disruption on the Korean coast.

For event supply a delivery date is not a logistics metric that can be traded away for a cheaper freight rate. It sets the first day the installation team can start work, and on this project it also decided whether the cargo moved before or after a weather window closed.

4. Frame Preparation and Test Assembly

The supplier built the canopy at its own premises first. Four modules were fixed to a lightweight aluminium frame, cables were routed along the frame members and the MC4 connections were made up before the structure was scaled to full size. On 17 August the customer confirmed that installation had been completed successfully.

5. The Canopy at the Concert Site

The full-size structure was then moved to the venue and set up on the field: an aluminium truss frame carrying a grid of flexible modules on the roof, with tensioned fabric side panels. The completed stand was used for a solar charging and bike race activity, signed in both Korean and English.

Why Flexible Modules Suit Temporary Event Structures

A temporary event structure has a different set of constraints from a permanent roof. It is carried to site, assembled by hand, stands for a few days and comes down again. That changes which module properties matter.

  • At 3.70 kg and 2.5 mm, a module can be fixed straight to the truss without a mounting rail system carrying its weight.

  • A 1150 × 1090 mm module tiles a wide canopy roof in a regular grid instead of forcing the frame to match a panel size.

  • Thin laminates ship as flat cartons, which is what allows a 32-module order to move by air freight on a one-week timeline.

  • Pre-fitted 50 cm cables with MC4 connectors keep field wiring to plugging modules together along the frame.

  • Reinforced packing and a delivery date that holds protect the one thing an event cannot recover: the assembly window.
